The Invention of Lying
 The Invention of Lying

DVD New Release - The Invention of Lying

The Invention of Lying (Ricky Gervais, Jennifer Garner) is based on a world where everyone is completely incapable of lying, until one man finds he has acquired this new, and very powerful skill. It is an honest and entertaining look at human nature and the evolution of faith, although one the more sensitive or religious might find a tad offensive or atheistic. I am one of the few people who hasn't been truly sucked into "The Office" yet, but I find myself drawn towards it a little more each week. Although my experience is limited to his stand-up and performance in "Ghost World", there is something irresistable about Gervais' dry, cynical comedy. That, combined with Garner's brutally honest characterization of the "typical female" lends to a film that is light and heartwarming without being completely devoid of thought provocation.
